Peter, the gentleman who sent us the Kombucha SCOBY/Mother last week, sent us a large sample of his Kombucha. After hearing that we had never tasted Kombucha, he wanted us to taste “good” Kombucha Tea before attempting to make our own. Well… a bottle of the stuff arrived this morning.
A few minutes after it’s arrival, I needed to try it. Most folks say that chilled Kombucha tastes best, but I couldn’t wait. I think Carol could have though. After opening the bottle I inhaled. The lightly carbonated tea smelled like a very mild apple-cider vinegar or a nice hard cider. In a glass glass, I poured a few ounces… then tasted it. It was quite good. As I had read: “good Kombucha Tea should taste like a combination of apple-cider and champagne”… and it did. Carol thought it had too many bubbles… the same reason she doesn’t care for champagne.
I put the cap back on and tucked the bottle in the fridge. I can only imagine how good it will be when chilled.
Peter… you brew a VERY nice tasting Kombucha Tea.
