The Human Society of the United States (HSUS), a non-Government Agency, has been in the news lately… for both good and bad reasons. As most folks know, they are more PETA like than anything else. Over the last few years they have really pushed efforts to end factory farms. When you see those heart-breaking, hidden videos of animals, living (and dieing) in horrific conditions, these are the types of things they say they are trying to end. What they don’t talk about is what most us small farmers are doing and how well we treating our critters (ummm… up to the time we decide we want to eat one). Truth be told, they are, through their videos and other forms of media, trying to convince the world that all farmers are doing this.
What finally tripped my trigger is the HSUS is now endorsing pet ownership for Micheal Vick. Remember him? He’s the pro football player that went to prison for dog fighting. It seems it’s OK for folks like him to own animals but not us farmers. Interesting? Yes!
Welcome to the political age of anti-agriculture. Enjoy the video. It exemplifies what I’m trying to say here.
Both the HSUS and Big-Ag are dangerous. One tries to poison the mind while the other poisons the body. Please support your local animal shelter and your local farmer.
