Last night, Carol came into the house, asking for the camera. It seems we had a ewe lamb born sometime late afternoon or early evening.

Our first lamb of 2011
This little girl is the first Katahdin lamb of the season. When Carol found her, her mama had already dried her off and had her nursing. She was sired by our newest ram, Oreo.
This afternoon, when Madison returned from bottle-feeding one of the new goat triplets, she leisurely mentioned that we have another lamb on the ground – our 2nd purebred Katahdin lamb. This one was a little boy, with spots as well (according to Madison). Once I have a pic, I’ll post it… either on FB or here… or both.
We have been expecting lambs… see post Mark Your Calander – Lambing Date. Back then, we were planning for our cross-bred ewe, Dottie, to lamb. As of today, she has not done so. We thought today would be the day. Since she isn’t developing an udder yet, we’re pushing her due date back to March 14th.
Between the first lamb and the second, we had one heck of a snowstorm plow though Minnesota, dumping approx. 14-15″ of snow on us. Places on the farm had 3′ snow drifts. Not fun. Thank goodness the tractor started. Once I got going, it didn’t take long before the driveway and parking area was passable and usable. And while the snow was rolling in, Carol was baking… and baking… and baking. She was able to finish here pickle bread marathon. She now has 29-30 loaves
