We’re just putting the word out there, perhaps you can help us locate some spring ‘weaners’.  We would like to try raising about 5 colored, crossbred pigs on pasture, supplemented with corn or small-grain (local of course).

When I was in high-school, I had Chester White sows with a Duroc boar – nice combo.  Back then, I fed them conventionally and indoors.  Now that I am older… and back on the farm (some 25 yrs later), we have decided to try raising some pigs again, but old-school – on pasture.  We would prefer colored, crossbred swine… maybe with Chester, Duroc, and/or Berk blood.  If you have heritage breeds and don’t feel the need to take us to the cleaners, we may be interested in purchasing a bred sow or two.

Here’s the deal… we are willing to pay for them, just like everybody else… but if you want to get creative, maybe we can barter.  We would be interested in trading 5 weaners for raising an extra for you (or whatever is fair).  Carol and I once owned a internet/web design company before we started farming, 3 years ago.  If you would be interested in a professional looking website, hosting or just a little help, maybe we could work something out.  Or… if you don’t want to do something like that now… but maybe in the future, give us a shout.  We’re pretty easy to get along with.  :hi:
