OK… if you’ve read our blog for any length of time, you know our house leaks when it rains. I mean, what do you expect for a free house? And if you are in a wet area of the U.S., you can assume our state is much like yours – it seems to be raining every couple of days. I’ll shorten this up with a simple weather related, “Blah, blah, blah.”
Anyway, we had another storm system roll through Minnesota last night and early this morning. Well, actually, it’s still raining… but I digress. Whenever a new weather system arrives, the barometric pressure either rises or falls. When it falls fast, our home weather station alarms. And at 4:30 AM, it went off. Since the station monitor is in the living room, I got up to shut it off – it’s very, VERY annoying.
On my way back to bed, I decided it was as good of time as any to take care of my bladder related bathroom needs. Thinking I would get a little shut-eye yet this morning, I opted to keep the lights off in the bathroom. No… I did not choose to stand while I relieved myself – I sat. When one sits, even in the dark, you can tell if you’re hitting your mark. If one stands… not so much. As I’m “tinkling”, I feel water. In my slumbered state, I quickly shut off the water-works, thinking that I was doing something really wrong. well, I wasn’t. It turns out I was the first to discover a leak in the bathroom ceiling, directly above the toilet. I was getting rained on.
Simply wonderful. When I finished, I went back to bed.
An hour or so later, after Carol got up for the morning, she announced to me that we have a leaky ceiling/fart fan in the bathroom. She mentioned how she thought someone must have gotten up during the night and ‘pee’d’ on the toilet seat and bathroom floor. I know she assumed it was me who hosed down the bathroom for her. I can say with certain, that the seat and floor was not pee’d on. :no-no: I told her I was aware of the leak, rolled over and tried to get some more sleep.
